Party Wall Houses

A large number of extensions and loft conversions are carried out just after a property has been purchased. Perhaps it wasn't quite big enough for the new owner's needs and they want to get any dirty and dusty work out of the way before they move in.

In the rush of completing on the property, having architects draw up plans and getting planning permission, it’s easy to overlook the importance of the Party Wall Act.

Here at Bluegrass Surveying, we know the Act Inside out and can give you free and impartial help and advice. If the work being planned is notifiable under the act, we can prepare party wall notices at short notice and serve them on your neighbour for just £50.

If  the neighbour consents, you are free to start work, nothing more needs to be done.

If they are dissent, you will need to appoint a party wall surveyor to resolve the dispute. At this point, you can choose Bluegrass Surveying to help you or go with another surveyor of your choice. Just because we served the notice does not mean you have to use us as your party wall surveyor.

Obviously, it makes sense to use the same person for continuity, and you will find our fees are very competitive.

The important thing is to get the party wall notice served early on so you know what else you will need to do before you can start work.
